REACH Third Party Representative Services

REACH, the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals, requires that all chemicals to be placed on the market in the European Union should be pre-registered with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) by December 2008. The substances then need to comply with the full registration process if you wish to continue to sell them into Europe.

Why use a Third Party Representative?

There is provision under REACH that EU manufacturers, importers or downstream users may, whilst retaining responsibility for compliance, appoint a Third Party Representative for discussions with other manufacturers, importers and downstream users. In such cases the identity of the company that has appointed the representative will not normally be disclosed by the European Chemicals Agency to other companies. This provides an opportunity to preserve confidential business information.

It is important to note that should a company wish to take advantage of this degree of confidentiality, the name of the appointed Third Party Representative needs to be stated at the time of pre-registration - Pre-registration begins on 1st June 2008.
